Kangal female born 10/4/2024. Vaccinated including rabies, heartworm treatment since a pup, flea and tick topical treatment. Will send some food to get you started.
Penny is a very social, friendly dog, smart, smiles a lot, loves people, wants to please. She is superfast and agile, loves water, Knows sit and down (the extent of my training ability). She would probably make a great agility dog or guardian for a family. Her brother has bonded with me and quietly stands between me and any visitors making it clear there is a barrier. Kangals are protective of their family. They have eliminated several raccoons and possums and could easily take on coyotes, though the coyotes no longer come near the farmstead. My hawk predation has ceased with such large dogs in the yard. I also have had stray dogs go after my goats in the past and that is no longer a problem.
I got her and her brother when they were 3 months old and they came from a working farm with cattle, horses, small dogs, cats and chickens. I don't have horses, but they love my neighbor's cattle and don't chase them. She is not aggressive toward my dachshunds, but they do not like to play with her because she has huge paws and steps on them. They do scare my goats, particularly Penny because she runs so fast. Here is my problem: I later learned that the chickens the farm had were not free range. Penny has learned to leave the standard chickens alone, but thinks the bantams are wild birds and therefore fair game. She should NOT go to a situation where there are free range chickens--she won't break into a pen, but has the urge to chase if they are running around. Right now I have to pen her on a large deck and only let her out with her brother when everything is up for the night. They do not let stray cats on the place, but accept cats they know belong. She has one that sleeps with her. (You may have the cat with her if you want.)
While I have quite a bit more in her, I am asking for one of two options--either a $350 rehoming fee or I will waive the fee if I can get verifiable references, meet the family, proof that she is going to a good situation. If I need to hold her until Christmas and you provide proof of good home vs. the fee, I will require a deposit refunded only upon pickup. Please note: I need her to go to a home at least a few miles away or she will be here visiting and I can't keep my chickens penned up forever.
